Jesse W.

I am an alcoholic/drug addict and Jesse is my problem. I have been sober and free from non prescribed drugs since March 3, 1990. My addictions have taken me places I wish to never visit again. To insure myself from ever taking that road, I have implemented a few simple but effective actions in my life. First, I stay connected to my God. I allow Him to guide me through my days and help me to make choices that I will not regret. Secondly, I follow a 12 step program guideline. And third, I stay in touch with fellow recovering friends.

I have known about 2nd Chance MC for a long time and have been invited to ride with them many times, but I was a weekend dad at the time and then gained custody of my daughters and did not feel that the time was right. On a weekend sober-based campout and on the lookout for a new sponsor in 2003, God put me at a campsite two doors down from an old AA buddy. We chatted and I met some of the SCMC members. I attended a few events and rides and asked if I could prospect. I recently received my patch which I wear with pride and my wife, Darla, became an associate member at the same time. We enjoy the camaraderie the club offers and attend every possible event.

With SCMC, I have the opportunity to enjoy the things which are most important to me-being outdoors taking in God's beauty, riding with my wife and riding with other sober bikers living a sober and serene lifestyle. I take a lot of comfort knowing that I am surrounded by sober bikers who value the same ideals as I do.
