Donnie M.

What's up-I'm Donnie M.

I am an alcoholic definitely. I found this out when I walked into the White House three years ago and have struggled and struggled for those three years. Since I have given it to God and his son Jesus, it is not too bad now. I've drank hard, used drugs hard, and played hard all my life. Can't really remember how far back but I think it was since I was 11 or 12. I've been in a lot of trouble with the authorities but in the last three years I haven't been to jail and I do give that to God and the brothers and sisters of AA. As of now I have been sober 90 days [8/16/05 ed.].

Memorial weekend Rick L. asked me if I wanted to be a suspect for SCMC. I didn't own a bike but always wanted to. I was taken by this place in Eddyville. What a place. A place where I could be a part of something with other good old boys, a place where I could camp without alcohol or drugs (that is worth it in its self). Wow-a place to camp without drugs and alcohol. I'm in.

Since that weekend I picked up a 1980 dressed 1100 Suzuki, my first ever bike!!! Loved it, but!! My 2nd bike I got three weeks later, it is a 1978 1000 Honda Goldwing and is my favorite of the two and I am about to pick up another Goldwing, an 84. It is a big dresser so let's ride long and hard boys!!!

The men and women from Second Chance are beautiful people. My three dollar suspect patch means so much to me because we have to start somewhere. Just like I had to open the door to the AA club in Des Moines (White House) so starting on the bottom is where I came from and working my way up is what I strive for.

Going to Eddyville to mow, camp and ride with my sponsor (Rick L) and grand-sponsor (Bill V) is what I call a good day. Riding at night at 65 mph is what I call a rush, a high, a buzz that stays with you throughout the evening after the ride comes to an end. Of course when it's your time, it's your time, but until then let's ride safe, long and together as brothers.

Thanks SCMC
Love all and greatest respect to SCMC
